Requirements

  • Completion of Apprenticeship Program OR Journey-workers certificate in subject area OR Bachelor's degree in related field and five years direct occupational experience.
  • At a minimum, occupational experience has to have occurred at least 1 year within the last 5 years.
  • Occupational experience may include positions such as:
  • Electrical and Instrumentation (E/I) Technician or Journey-level E/I Technician
  • E/I Technician or Journey-level E/I Lead Technician
  • E/I Foreman
  • Control Systems Technician
  • Specifics on the job experience in:
  • Troubleshooting and repairing process control systems
  • Operating electronic instrumentation equipment
  • Selecting, installing, calibrating and checking sensing, telemetering and recording instrumentation and circuitry; and developing specifications.
  • Sketching, building or modifying jigs, fixtures, instruments and related apparatus, and verifying dimensional and functional acceptability of devices fabricated.
  • Operating test apparatus, regulating and recording effects of actual or simulated conditions.
  • Mathematically reducing test data to usable form and preparing graphs and written reports.
  • Installing and repairing wiring systems, switch gears, and main switchboards.
  • Installing and repairing electrical fixtures and equipment, motors, and other electrical driven machines including generators and alternators.
  • Reading wiring blueprints.
  • Complying with building and safety codes - electrical.
  • Using hand and power tools.
  • Using specialized testing equipment to ensure proper working order of machines and equipment.
  • Adjusting pneumatic and electronic controls.
  • Using and servicing high voltage transformers.
  • Inspecting, adjusting, and calibrating pressure and temperature measuring devices.
  • Employment is conditional on the completion of a background check and drug test with acceptable results.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering instruction and assessment of learning outcomes.
  • Utilize engaging instructional strategies and methodologies which foster student success both in and outside of the classroom.
  • Maintain accurate student records and communication.
  • Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals. This includes being accessible to students outside of scheduled classroom time.
  • Provide educational leadership and work effectively with faculty, administration, and campus support staff.
  • Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation.
  • Comply with College policies and practices related to instruction, assessment, and delivery.
  • Course emphasis will be on Programmable Logic Controllers and electrical maintenance.
  • Provide instruction and technical support to NWTC Corporate Training and Economic Development.
