Part-time Controller

Trade Show Savvy LLCGrapevine, TX
$55 - $75Onsite

About The Position

Trade Show Savvy combines a proprietary SaaS platform with full-service trade show exhibit services. We operate multiple entities including a recently acquired exhibit storage and logistics division and a boutique coworking space. We're a small, fast-moving team that values people who think about structure, not just transactions. This is not a bookkeeping position. We're looking for a part-time controller who can own the financial architecture across our multi-entity structure — someone who thinks about how things should be organized, not just how to record what happened. You'll handle both the strategic thinking and the hands-on execution of our accounting function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including controller or senior accountant roles
  • Demonstrated experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online
  • Experience with multi-state sales tax compliance
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate clearly with a non-finance audience

Nice To Haves

  • CPA license (active or inactive)
  • Experience with acquisition integration and earnout accounting
  • Familiarity with Stripe Tax or similar fintech/tax automation tools
  • Background in professional services or small/mid-market private companies
  • Experience supporting companies with both product (SaaS) and services revenue

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain the chart of accounts across three entities (parent company, acquired subsidiary, related-party real estate entity)
  • Structure and manage intercompany transactions and related-party lease accounting
  • Own earnout accounting and tracking for a recent acquisition with defined milestones
  • Advise on entity structure, tax optimization, and financial reporting as the business scales
  • Partner with external CPA firm on tax filings, ensuring clean, well-organized financials
  • Manage sales tax compliance across 14+ states using Stripe Tax
  • Oversee state registrations and monitor nexus triggers as revenue geography shifts
  • Execute monthly close across all entities in QuickBooks Online
  • Produce monthly financial statements and KPI reporting for ownership
  • Reconcile Stripe payment processing across multiple accounts
  • Manage AP/AR, 1099/W-9 workflows, and vendor payment operations
  • Oversee payroll processing for employees in Texas and Kansas
  • Support benefits administration including 401(k) plan implementation
  • Ensure compliance with state-specific requirements (e.g., Kansas workers' compensation)
  • Optimize the accounting technology stack (QBO, Stripe Tax, Stripe Payments, Zoho Expense)
  • Build and document repeatable financial processes as the company grows
  • Evaluate and implement tools as needed (e.g., bill pay automation, reporting dashboards)
