About The Position

Verifies eligibility for the program using both income screening and health screening techniques. Enters data and maintains accurate medical records and charts for individuals. Schedules appointments for all clients and assist with any questions or concerns. Provides training to clients in regards to using the program and accessing their benefits, education opportunities and referrals. Considered essential personnel for public health emergency response.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) years of experience in Healthcare or Public Health
  • Knowledge of: Laboratory techniques
  • Performance Management
  • Quality Improvement process
  • Department/county policies and procedures
  • Department services and other resources in the county
  • Applicable software applications
  • Principles and practices of basic bookkeeping and recordkeeping
  • Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment
  • Skill in: Organization
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships
  • Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
  • Performing basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios

  • Effectively speak, write and understand the English language

Responsibilities

  • Verifies applicant program eligibility, registers new clients, and maintains existing clients using electronic medical record.
  • Performs anthropometric and hematologic assessments and maintains equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains accurate records and completes and/or dispenses forms and benefits relevant to the program and necessary for the delivery of services.
  • Answers phones, schedules appointments, and conducts follow up on clients.
  • Inventories and maintains supply and equipment levels.
  • Assists in the collection of data, completes activity reports, and participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
  • Gathers and distributes program materials and current events pertaining to the Macomb County Health Department and community outreach.
  • Retrieves lab reports and documents information.
  • Enters information on records and forms.
  • Produces, electronically and manually, a variety of materials, including forms, receipts and other correspondence according to established procedures or specific instructions.
  • Performs related work as required.
