About The Position

The Cashier at Great Lakes Ace Hardware is responsible for customer acknowledgment, maintaining a good company image, and promoting goodwill through their attitude and appearance. Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and policy manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively with customers and associates.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

Responsibilities

• Operates cash register by scanning merchandise and engaging customers through suggestive selling.
• Processes refunds and issues in-store merchandise credit for returned items.
• Uses loss prevention techniques to reduce shortages and prevent shoplifting.
• Follows company policies and procedures for all transactions.
• Engages customers to ensure they receive benefits of being an Ace Rewards member.
• Maintains familiarity with ads, rebates, and special pricing.
• Answers telephones and refers calls to the proper department.
• Greets customers and assists with questions about merchandise.
• Aids customers in locating merchandise in-store and online.
• Displays, stocks, and maintains merchandise according to company guidelines.
• Assists with color matching and mixing paint.
• Collects carts and carries merchandise to customer cars if needed.
• Assists with service areas including chain, rope, key, and glass cutting.
• Follows the nightly maintenance checklist for store recovery and cleanliness.
• Refers customer complaints to the appropriate person for resolution.
