About The Position

Penn State College of Education Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling, and Special Education (EPCSE). The College of Education at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a qualified Part Time Recruitment Coordinator to support the federally funded CARE for Special Educators Project, a multi-site randomized controlled trial focused on improving well-being and instructional engagement among special education teachers. This position will play a key role in on-site recruitment, relationship building, and participant support across partnering school districts. Residence and/or K-12 teaching experience in the recruitment location (New Orleans) is strongly preferred. This is a fixed-term appointment, funded by external grants, and is renewable contingent upon performance and continued funding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social sciences, communications, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in K–12 school settings or with educators in a professional capacity.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to travel independently within assigned regions; possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, track milestones, and maintain detailed documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Residence in the recruitment location and/or experience working in the recruitment location's K-12 schools (currently: New Orleans, LA)
  • Experience in participant recruitment, outreach, community engagement, or project coordination.
  • Familiarity with research procedures, IRB compliance, or school-based intervention studies.
  • Knowledge of special education contexts or teacher well-being programs.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting on-site recruitment visits to schools and district partners across designated project regions.
  • Representing the CARE for Special Educators project during school visits, information sessions, professional development days, district meetings, and community engagement events.
  • Cultivating and maintaining strong working relationships with district administrators, school leaders, instructional coaches, and special education staff.
  • Delivering brief informational presentations to potential participants and responding to recruitment inquiries.
  • Coordinating informed consent processes and collecting necessary documentation in compliance with IRB protocols.
  • Working closely with the Project Director and project team to meet recruitment milestones and maintain accurate records in project databases.
  • Assisting with scheduling of baseline assessments and project activities for newly recruited participants.
  • Preparing outreach materials, tracking recruitment metrics, and contributing to regular progress reports.
  • Communicating effectively with diverse educator populations and ensuring culturally responsive outreach practices.
  • Completing other duties as assigned to ensure smooth and compliant project operations.
