The University of Denver is seeking a part-time Assistant GIS Analyst to support the Facilities Management and Planning Division. This role is designed for recent graduates to gain practical experience in GIS and Space Management, focusing on hands-on projects that enhance technical proficiency in data acquisition, processing, analysis, and management. The position involves collecting and cleaning geospatial data, assisting in mapping projects, and maintaining a centralized geographic information system for various departments.

  • Collect, clean, and prepare geospatial data to support mapping projects and utility verification.
  • Wrangle large, complex datasets for analysis and visualization.
  • Prepare and update GIS solutions for review and approval, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Assist in preparing updates to Revit BIM files using AutoCAD software.
  • Support the Space Management team by preparing and documenting room numbering datasets.
  • Prepare and collate tree inventory data for the campus-wide Alter Arboretum campaign.
  • Adhere to established maintenance processes and standards for mapping and data management.
  • Evaluate GIS needs with departments and develop streamlined project operating procedures.
  • Identify and propose solutions for GIS workstation issues.
  • Assist in developing time-saving enhancements and simplifications in programming languages.
  • Prepare and present research reports and spatial analytics findings.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Cartography, or related field, or in the last quarter/semester of pursuing a degree.
  • Proficient programming skills in ESRI-based ArcGIS programs and data management applications (Python, SQL).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of geography, GIS, or related fields such as cartography.
  • Ability to perform all aspects of the position under managerial guidance.
  • Experiential knowledge in GIS related fields such as Environmental Modeling and Database Management.
  • Knowledge of contemporary GIS software features like Web GIS and data visualization techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, ENVI, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit for floor plan management.
  • Hourly rate of $19.30
