About The Position

Under the immediate supervision of a Parks Supervisor, Foreman or a Senior Parks Technician perform skilled and semi-skilled work related to maintenance and renovation of parks and recreation facilities, grounds, pathways, landscape, open space reserves, ponds, and lakes. During emergency conditions, subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned. Perform duties in support of development and maintenance of parks, pools, grounds, restrooms, and sport fields e.g., mowing, edging, fertilizing grass; pruning, planting, and/ or removing weeds, trees, and shrubs; clearing right-of-way areas and drainage with appropriate equipment. Paint, repair and refurbish fixtures, signs, equipment, and other miscellaneous items as needed. Gather and dispose of debris and dead animals. Operate and maintain lawn mower, lawn edger, brush/tree trimmers and chippers, air compressors, backhoes, farm tractors, vehicles up to 26000 GVWR, various hand and job-related power tools. Participate in emergency response teams. May be required to work special events on nights, weekends, or holidays. Perform other duties as assigned. 60% of work will be synthetic grass maintenance; 40% of the work will be projects, enhancements, work orders for Parks, Streetscapes and Town Center. Specific to Syntenic Turf Technician: Weekly synthetic grass grooming, sweeping and repairs. Quarterly services filtration of grass infill materials. Requirements

  • Operate and maintain lawn mowers, lawn edgers, brush/tree trimmers and chippers, air compressors, backhoes, farm tractors, vehicles up to 26000 GVWR, various hand and job-related power tools.
  • Entry level knowledge of construction, carpentry work, and landscape installation/maintenance.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and meet the driver safety policy requirements.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening, pass background check, and eligible status on Motor Vehicle Report.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with Synthetic Turf a plus.
