About The Position

Performs a wide variety of entry level semi-skilled duties related to planning, coordinating and directing all phases of park maintenance to include turf management and beautification, irrigation systems, shade structures, and construction and repair.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent GED required.
A valid New Mexico’s driver’s license required.
Ability to work flexible hours, days and holidays as directed.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other City personnel and the public.
Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule with minimal supervision.
Must pass pre-employment background and drug screening.

Responsibilities

Performs routine park maintenance.
Assures proper operation of lighting fixtures, irrigation systems.
Assures proper installation and maintenance of playground equipment.
Performs regular sprinkler systems maintenance; to include line sizes, spacing, type and control equipment.
Operates lawn mowing equipment; mows and trims grass, bushes and shrubs; assists in pruning activities on trees, shrubs and plants; removes dead, diseased, or injured trees.
Operates various small equipment to turn and prepare soil.
Assures lawns are trim and attractive.
Performs seasonal duties such as winterizing sprinkler system to avoid freezing, flushes watering systems in spring, and repairs other equipment.
Performs general cleanup, maintenance, and repair of rest rooms, pavilions, playgrounds, picnic tables, benches, bleachers, ball fields and other facilities.
Performs various seasonal duties such as snow removal and weed control, etc.
Work flexible hours, days and holidays as directed.
Ensures quality customer service.
Assists with City functions and events.
Performs related duties as required.
