About The Position

The Parks Supervisor is a full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week who will manage general maintenance duties in parks, buildings, and facilities. Hours are flexible and dictated by program schedules and Park District needs, which will require evening, weekend, and holiday hours at times. The Parks Supervisor will perform skilled tasks related to park maintenance, construction management, building maintenance, and fleet maintenance. This position also requires working with and effectively leading part-time staff. The Parks Supervisor must be knowledgeable of practices in the maintenance of parks, grounds, turf, tree, shrubs, snow removal, HVAC systems, play equipment, athletic fields, (including game preparation), and vehicle and equipment repair. Experience working with outside vendors, communicating, getting quotes for equipment/repairs. This position also coordinates work with other departments and the public to fulfill the mission of the agency. The Parks Supervisor must be self-motivated and able to work individually to complete tasks.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required, bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
• Completion of trade school or other continuing education in a related area preferred.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the parks and recreation or similar field required.
• Must possess a current Illinois Pesticide Applicators License or the ability to earn within 90 days of hire.
• Must possess a current CPR Certification or the ability to earn within 90 days of hire.
