Under basic supervision, performs semiskilled general labor work in repair and fabrication of structures in City parks for the Parks and Recreation Department (PRD); operates vehicles, equipment, and tools in compliance with all safety regulations and standard procedures. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Performs general labor tasks to maintain, repair and construct safe, attractive, and user-friendly City park facilities; inspects facilities and equipment; duties may vary according to job assignment. Performs park repair and fabrication tasks including carpentry, welding, and concrete; builds and repairs park facilities, structures, and components; estimates material requirements for projects; assists with setup and takedown for special events; maintains and operates tools and equipment according to PRD standards. Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries. Supports the departmental operations with regular and timely attendance. Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
