This position is located at the beautiful Tongue River Reservoir State Park in Decker, Montana, about 25 miles north of historic Sheridan, Wyoming. This remote park has several large campgrounds serving southeast Montana and is well known for its fishing and boating opportunities. A marina store is also on site to serve visitors. This position would also serve Rosebud Battlefield State Park, a minimally developed National Historic Landmark commemorating the Battle of the Rosebud (“Where the Girl Saved her Brother”) during the Sioux Wars of the late 1800’s. Located 12 miles north of the reservoir, it is a great place for hiking and reflecting on America’s history. Part of the duties include interacting with campers/visitors, learning and using the POS reservation system, collecting fees at various locations, cash handling, daily updating of hang tags at each campsite, and other office duties. It may also be needed to assist other staff in minor maintenance projects and park cleanup, including handling heavy garbage bags. The position is seasonal, running from about Late-May to early-September each year. The parks are busiest on the weekends and holidays, so working these days along with extra hours is expected. State housing is provided during the season and consist of three-bedroom modular homes with shared living areas such as laundry, kitchen, bathrooms and living rooms.

Requirements

  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to high school diploma or equivalency and at least 1 year of job-related experience.
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year job-related college or vocational training in business or public administration, office management, park or natural resources management, accounting, tourism, marketing, communications, or other related degrees is preferred.
