About The Position

McCarter Theatre Center is seeking dedicated Parking & Safety Attendants (PSA) to join the Operations Department as a member of the Front of House team. This part-time position is ideal for individuals who have a passion for customer service, a commitment to safety, and thrive in fast-paced settings. The Parking & Safety Attendants will play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless experience for patrons attending performances at the theater. The position requires coordination of parking for patrons with accessibility needs, donors, and performance sponsors, as well as managing VIP parking and communicating effectively with the House Manager on duty. In addition to parking coordination, the PSA will display signage and direct guests to the correct performance venues, assist patrons during inclement weather, and help with the setup and breakdown of outdoor event signage and barricades. Maintaining clear communication with the House Manager via radio is essential to support a seamless performance experience. The PSA will also work closely with Production Staff and Stage Management to facilitate interactions between artists and guests, manage crowd flow, and ensure the orderly movement of patrons, especially during high-traffic times before and after performances. Safety is a top priority, and the PSA will execute emergency procedures as directed by House Management, ensuring the safety of patrons, staff, and performers before, during, and after performances. The role also involves assisting patrons with limited mobility and documenting any incidents or safety concerns to House Management in a timely manner. Regular training sessions on safety protocols, customer service, and emergency procedures will be part of the job to stay updated on best practices. The PSA will also participate in efforts to make McCarter an anti-racist theater, seeking ways to improve work practices to make the Operations department more equitable and inclusive.
