About The Position

The Parking Enforcement Officer is a civilian employee with the Haverford Township Police Department. This role is responsible for compliance with local parking regulations by patrolling assigned areas, issuing citations, and assisting the public with related inquiries. This is a part-time position and requires extended walking and standing in all types of weather.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions, lighting, and temperatures
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Familiarity with local parking laws and ordinances
  • Basic computer/technology skills
  • Availability up to 29 hours per week
  • Must be able to pass a drug/alcohol screening
  • Must be able to pass criminal history/child abuse clearances/FBI fingerprint clearance

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Township owned parking meters
  • Monitor Township owned parking lots
  • Monitor Handicapped parking spaces
  • Monitor Fire Lane violations
  • Monitor Vehicles parked too close to the corner
  • Monitor Permit Parking Areas
  • Use handheld devices or manual methods to issue citations
  • Provide information to motorists about parking rules
  • Respond to complaints and inquiries professionally
  • Educate the public on parking regulations and safety
  • Report damaged or malfunctioning meters and signage
  • Responsible for the maintenance and collection of meters
  • Cover open Crossing Guard posts
  • Parking Enforcement Officers’ schedule can be changed due to weather related issues or manpower issues
