About The Position

The Liberty University Police Department (LUPD) Part Time Parking Enforcement Officer is a civilian position and serves as a critical part of the LUPD Auxiliary Services Division Team. The Parking Enforcement Officer is responsible for maintaining adequate operation of the Liberty University parking infrastructure. The Parking Enforcement Officer is responsible for towing and/or ticketing illegally parked vehicles, identifying improperly marked parking areas, coordinating with the LU Sign Shop to ensure proper identification of all parking areas, maintaining adequate counts of parking space inventory, deploying temporary signs to denote parking areas and coning off parking areas needing to be blocked off for special events.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Current first aid and CPR certifications.
  • Ability to work under considerable pressure and stress in difficult situations
  • A clear and solid record of performance.
  • Have no convictions for felonies or crimes of moral turpitude.
  • Have no recent or prolonged use of Marijuana.
  • Have no possession of any illegal drugs such as cocaine, heroin, LSD, etc.
  • Be able to pass random drug testing to maintain employment.
  • Possess excellent written, verbal, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Maintain a calm demeanor when dealing with the public.
  • Possess strong skills in the use of computers, software and logistics
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Must have acute attention to detail and demonstrated effectiveness in managing multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong computer literacy required including knowledge and application of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply sound judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
  • Use of a University vehicle may be required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Towing and/or ticketing illegally parked vehicles as well as enforcement of LU Decal policies
  • Parking logistics management.
  • Closure and blocking off of roadways and parking lots as needed.
  • Maintaining signs and identification of all parking areas.
  • Assistance with education of parkers on proper parking at LU.
  • Making recommendations for parking improvement.
  • Assisting in the development of the LU Parking Plan.
  • Researching and developing briefings on industry standards for efficient parking.
  • All other duties as deemed necessary and assigned by the Division Lieutenant.
