About The Position

The Parking Attendant supports daily parking operations by monitoring parking areas, enforcing regulations, and assisting customers. This role helps maintain safe, organized, and accessible parking across campus. The attendant provides directions, answers questions, and assists during events and busy periods, contributing to an efficient and customer-focused parking experience.

Requirements

No formal education required
6 months of related experience (i.e., customer service, working at a university, parking, transportation, light maintenance, etc.)
In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis may be substituted
Valid Texas Drivers License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment) required with no more than 3 moving violations within the past 36 months and no citations for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
Must be able to speak and understand basic English
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
Speaks to others in a courteous manner
Actively looks for ways to help people
Follows instructions

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with parking equipment is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

Keeps parking areas clean and orderly to ensure that space usage is maximized
Directs motorists to parking areas or parking spaces, using hand signals or flashlights as necessary
Patrols parking areas to prevent vehicle damage and vehicle or property theft
Calculates parking charges when equipment is not working and collects fees from customers
Lifts, positions, and removes barricades to open or close parking areas
Provides direction and assistance to visitors as needed
May, at times, be asked to lead other attendants, students, and/or event staff
Performs all other duties as assigned
