About The Position

Hillsborough River Park is looking for a self-motivated park service professional to fill a Park Services Specialist position, providing visitor services, maintenance, protection, administration, and cultural resource management. The applicant must possess good visitor service and administrative skills, be able to work independently and have the ability to perform a variety of skilled trade functions using assorted equipment and tools. The applicant must be able to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • ABILITY TO: participate in all aspects of resource management, including, but not limited to, prescribed fire activities, non-native plant removal which may include application of herbicide

  • ABILITY TO: comply with male and female hair grooming standards and body art and piercing restrictions

  • BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT: This position is a Position of Trust. Any applicant being considered for employment must successfully complete a Level 2 State and National criminal history check as a condition of employment before beginning employment, and also be screened in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, F.S. No applicant may begin employment until the background screening results are received, reviewed for any disqualifying offenses, and approved by the Agency.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, screens, trains and oversees volunteers
  • Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education
  • Monitors, maintains, and protects the natural and cultural resources of the park
  • Construct maintains and repairs buildings, fences, trails, service roads, fire lanes, boardwalks, campsites, picnic areas and all other necessary facilities
  • Prepares forms and reports on a wide range of subjects including fees, receipts, visitor use, visitor contact, patrols, wildlife sightings and population counts, accidents, crisis and miscellaneous incidents, vehicle, boat and equipment operations, property records, purchase orders and requisitions, etc.
  • Ensures park rules are enforced pertaining to all natural, historical and archaeological facilities and resources and use thereof for the enjoyment of the visitor
  • Performs other related duties as required
