About The Position

Performs park facility operations work in the County’s parks and natural resource areas. The work involves providing visitor and group services, park maintenance, repairs, and enforcement of park rules and regulations. The work requires prior experience. Workers report to a Park Manager/Site Manager. Essential Job Functions Responsible for daily park operations: Opens and closes park, performs trash pick-up and removal, collects and accounts for fees, cares for animals, ensures that services are open and ready for visitors. Provides information to visitors. Assigns work to park aides or other summer staff. Enforces park rules and regulations. Responds to complaints, incidents and injuries. Performs general maintenance of park facilities and equipment involving grass mowing & trimming, painting, carpentry, cleaning restrooms, and other similar tasks. Maintains daily records. Other Duties Performs related work as required. Prepares reports i.e., incident/accident.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of experience in park operation, public facility operation (such as a community center) or related employment that involved significant public contact
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Subject to background investigation
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Operation of County owned vehicle
  • Operation of park utility vehicle
  • Knowledge of general maintenance procedures
  • Effective techniques of supervision
  • Skill in operate a chainsaw
  • Ability to perform and supervise park operations work
  • Ability to perform park and outdoor maintenance work
  • Ability to deal effectively with the general public and groups
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to enforce park rules and regulations
  • Ability to provide brief park introductory talks for registered groups
  • Ability to work most weekends/holidays throughout the year
