About The Position

Under the direction of the Park Assistant Manager, this position is responsible
for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a recreation-based park.
Responsibilities include customer service, budgeting, purchasing, maintenance,
supporting water and wastewater systems, working closely with staff and
volunteers by training, supervising, and coaching team members, while also
building strong relationships with community partners and organizations.
Enforces all park policies and procedures while conserving the natural resources
and ensuring public safety for our customers and employees.

• Current practices and methods in the protection of resources in a park.
• Interpretation techniques/philosophy.
• Grounds keeping.
• Basic utility vehicle repair.

• Applicable federal, state and agency laws, statues, policies and procedures.

• Two plus years of work history in parks and recreation or closely related field.
• Certification from ADEQ or equivalent of Grade 1 in water treatments, water distribution and waste water at time of or within 12 months of appointment. Grade 2 certifications within 36 months of appointment.
• Certification from a safe boating operator class and a boating law class at time of or within 12 months of employment.
• Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license or ability to obtain one.

Nice To Haves

• An ideal candidate would have Bachelor’s Degree in the area of Park Management, Natural Resource Management, Recreation, or closely related field. 3+ years’ Experience in park management, managing staff, budget, park operations and volunteers will be considered.
• May require EMT certification within 1 year of appointment

Responsibilities

• Participates in park maintenance, improvement projects, and oversee inventories and assets related to field and lake operations including grounds, buildings, equipment, trails, fences, roads, recreation facilities, etc., to include coordinating with contractors and staff the operation of the Cattail Cove water treatment and waste water plants in order to ensure compliance with public safety protocols and ADEQ requirements.
• Boating & Lake Site Operations - under direction of the PAM, oversee and implement procedures and practices to ensure that ASPT goals are met for safety, maintenance, appearance, environmental and revenue standards for the Cattail Cove State Park areas of responsibility
• Supervision- Assist in scheduling project priorities and lead in completing the daily cleaning, landscaping and maintenance tasks. Assist in creating work assignments for staff and volunteers for park. Evaluate completed projects to ensure goals/objectives are met. Address personnel problems minimizing effects on park operations.
• Administration - Prepare and/or approve various written and computerized reports including ADEQ documentation, park activity reports, attendance/revenue reports, purchasing ledgers, deposit recaps, construction activity reports, volunteer documents, bank deposits, ordering supplies, inventory management, restocking, accounting, personnel training for park.
• Community Relations - When requested by Park Manager attend meetings and trainings such as Friends Groups meeting, public meetings, internal ASPT committees, and maintain personal contacts with representatives of special interest groups, media and other governmental agencies to address issues of common interest and keep them informed of park/agency activities and plans.
• Customer Service: Selling annual and day use passes, answering telephones, making camping and group use area reservations, park correspondence, answering requests for information, interpretation, etc...
• Other duties as assigned for the position
