About The Position

Under supervision of the Park Manager or Assistant Park Manager the position supervises/leads the work activities of staff rangers and volunteers in a variety of skilled work activities associated with operations and maintenance of a recreation-based natural resource or historic park.

  • Must possess and maintain a current Arizona Driver's license appropriate to assignment.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years experience equivalent to a Park Ranger , OR three years of work experience in customer service and maintenance in park related setting; OR a Bachelor's degree in Park Management, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field. Any combination of training and experience that meet knowledge, skills, abilities may be substituted.
  • Some positions may require certification as an Emergency Medical Technician, Water Distribution and Treatment Systems Operator, and/or Certified Interpretive Guide.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating, leading and supervising facility repair/projects and equipment management within the park.
  • Supervises all staff and volunteers in these task as well as coordinating with contractors when needed for facility repairs.
  • In addition, performs all purchasing related to these maintenance projects at Roper Lake State Park and Dankworth Pond State Park.
  • Provides customer service by phone and in-person and responds to public inquiries about park hours, accommodations and reservations
  • Performs cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift Shop.
  • Collects and accounts for park fees and store purchases.
  • Promotes the safety of park visitors.
  • Enforces Park rules and protects Park resources.
  • Utilizes two-way radio communications system.
  • Confers with local officials and law enforcement officers.
  • Completes all necessary reports concerning incidents.
  • Lead and assist in training of subordinate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned to the position.
