About The Position

Crew member working in landscaping and general park maintenance tasks under the direction of the Parks Foreman. Completes routine park maintenance such as garbage removal, watering, weeding, string trimming, and/or general maintenance and construction.

Requirements

Valid Illinois Driver’s License
Must have the ability to operate equipment and tools safely and proficiently
Must possess the ability to work in a team and independently efficiently
Must possess customer service skills

Responsibilities

Garbage cleanup throughout district grounds
Push mowing, string trimming, and turf maintenance
Care of athletic fields, trees, turf, shrubs, and flower beds
General trades and construction work under direct supervision
Conducts inspections of park grounds, playgrounds, and athletic fields/courts
Graffiti removal
Help maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop
Attends required safety program and in-service education meetings as directed
Work in inclement weather conditions
Cleans washrooms as needed
Custodial work as needed
Other duties as assigned
Actively supports and enforces the safety program instituted by the Park District
Maintains a working knowledge of all general agency and department-specific safety rules
Corrects unsafe conditions and/or reports them to your director supervisor
Uses material handling equipment or staff assistance when lifting and/or moving objects 50 pounds or heavier
Uses protective gloves, masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE)
