About The Position

This recruitment is being given to fill 4 part-time and/or temporary positions in the Parks and Recreation Department and to establish an eligible referral pool that may be used to fill future part-time and/or temporary opportunities. Pre-Employment Background, DOJ Live Scan and Drug Screen : Potential new hires into this classification are required to successfully pass a DOJ Live Scan, a pre-employment background investigation and a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment. Final appointment cannot be made unless the eligible has successfully completed the DOJ Live Scan, background process and passed the drug screen. The County pays for the initial drug screen.

Requirements

  • License: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
  • Experience: Six months of paid experience in handling cash and making change.
  • Basic fee collection and accounting practices; basic mathematics and record keeping; basic principles and practices of public relations; basic principles and practices of inventory control.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions
  • Deal effectively with the public
  • Count money and make change accurately
  • Maintain records
  • Work independently
  • Operate a calculator and a two-way radio
  • Read and interpret park rules and regulations
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts entrance station sales including collection of parking, pet, zoo admission, fishing, boating, and camping fees.
  • Provides information and directions to public; answers visitor questions.
  • Maintains daily records of visitor use; maintains and records cash sales; fills out incident and accident reports as needed.
  • Maintains entrance station kiosk with all supplies and equipment required; may perform basic housekeeping duties as required.
  • May operate paddle-boat rental facilities and perform related activities; may operate motor boats; may assist customers in boarding and exiting boats and fitting safety equipment.
