About The Position

The Parenting Programs In-Home Specialist provides direct support and education to families participating in MHM parenting programs through in-home and group-based services. The role uses evidence-based and evidence-informed curricula to help clients strengthen parenting skills, improve family functioning, and achieve holistic health outcomes. Responsibilities include conducting monthly home visits, assessing client needs, providing crisis support, making referrals, coordinating events, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, reflective practice, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work independently in community settings.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Education, Special Education, or related field required.
Must complete all required parenting curriculum certifications within 12 months of hire, including: Parents As Teachers Practical Parenting Education Nurturing Program Living Compass
Must obtain/maintain required certifications such as First Aid, CPR, Child Protection Training, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed Care, ACEs, Domestic Violence (Purple Ally), PHQ-9, Interpersonal Violence Screening, ASQ-3, ASQ-SE, Parental Stress Inventory, PRAPARE, and others as assigned.
Two (2) years of experience in program implementation, parenting education, early childhood/elementary education, or similar work. Experience facilitating parenting groups, coordinating events, and establishing community contacts preferred.
Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and auto liability insurance.
Ability to travel frequently (up to 75%) for in-home visits and regional programming.
Subject to additional background checks.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and educate clients in home and group settings using evidence-based and evidence-informed curricula while maintaining program fidelity and quality standards.
Conduct approximately 40 customized in-home parenting education visits per month.
Assist clients in identifying unhealthy parenting styles, beliefs, and coping mechanisms and develop action plans to improve family outcomes.
Use Motivational Interviewing and trauma-informed care to help clients set and achieve health and parenting goals.
Conduct initial and ongoing assessments; track client progress and maintain required records and EHR documentation.
Provide life skills training to support client/family short- and long-term needs.
Serve as the primary point of outreach during client concern or crisis, including cases involving family violence or child abuse/neglect; ensure families are connected to appropriate resources.
Design, develop, and support implementation of parenting projects, activities, and events.
Assist with curriculum development and continuous process improvement.
Maintain resource documentation and support improvements in content delivery.
Coordinate meetings, quarterly socialization events, field trips, and outreach activities, including logistics, facilities, food, and speakers.
Understand program budget limitations and steward funds appropriately.
Maintain productivity expectations as established by supervisor.
Make referrals to MHM departments, community agencies, and organizations; conduct follow-up to ensure adequate service delivery using the integrated care model.
Encourage clients to engage in community programs that address specific needs.
Serve as an advocate and liaison to public/private agencies to improve client outcomes and prevent harm.
Collaborate with mental health agencies, probation departments, schools, faith organizations, and other partners.
Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to support shared client goals.
Utilize standardized assessments and track measurable outcomes.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and interdisciplinary work groups.
Compile and maintain complete client records, documentation, and statistical data.
Integrate reflective supervision feedback and participate in peer group processes supporting professional and spiritual development.
Provide presentations for community stakeholders to recruit participants and build collaborative relationships.
Participate in recruiting host sites for Parents As Teachers (PAT) group connections and regional expansion.
Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming PAT referrals and inquiries.
Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, healthcare providers, legal systems, religious organizations, and stakeholders.
Mentor, assist, and train interns, contract employees, and new team members.
Assist leadership with developing intervention strategies and response plans.
Help coordinate volunteer participation and training.
Complete required MHM trainings and professional development.
Work evenings and weekends as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
