Join the NVFS Family: We are looking to hire a Parent Programs Specialist to join the NVFS Early Child and Family Wellbeing team! As the Parent Programs Specialist, you will provide support and coordination for managing the daily operations of Family Programs' family groups series and family coaching. In this position, you will coordinate with coaches, community members, liaisons, and staff in the facilitation of work with families to: Decrease the risk of child abuse and neglect within families Increase child resiliency Integrate family engagement initiatives within the child abuse prevention model Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing across programs to increase impact

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written fluency in English; Spanish language fluency required
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in program coordination, related work experience in social work, parent education, child welfare, or human services
  • High school graduate or GED; college coursework preferred
  • Experience working with or providing services to children and families
  • In-depth knowledge of parenting skills and child development; commitment to trauma-informed, resiliency-focused, strengths-based, family-focused strategies that embrace and respect families
  • Skilled in training, presentation, and facilitation in both a virtual and in-person setting, with an understanding of parent education and working with adult and youth learners
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and independently, while balancing competing priorities
  • All employees are considered mandated reporters of child maltreatment
  • Appreciation for and ability to capitalize on diversity; cultural sensitivity and ability to engage and support diverse cultural and socioeconomic communities
  • Self-motivated professional able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to identify conflicts and address them through positive conflict resolution strategies
  • Successful completion of background checks upon hire
  • Must have reliable transportation to conduct client visits as needed and visit other designated community locations
  • May be called upon to work beyond normal working hours

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate program logistics, including participant recruitment and enrollment; respond to parent inquiries; secure required materials; maintain accurate contact lists; support scheduling and implementation of group series and parent coaching services.
  • Manage intake and waitlist for Family Programs clients, including assigning appropriate parent coaches based on program and family needs.
  • Coordinate client flow from initial inquiry through case assignment and program completion, ensuring efficient service delivery, accurate client records, and timely statistical reporting.
  • Collaborate with community based and school partners to support programming needs and coordinate resource delivery for families.
  • Co-facilitate and support group sessions and work collaboratively with program facilitators to ensure a positive and effective learning environment.
  • Support recruitment, coordination and implementation of programs and workshops as needed.
  • Assist with planning and execution of community and school-based workshops and series, including scheduling, staffing, material preparation, food and beverage coordination, data input, and monitoring coaching data to ensure effective service delivery and program compliance while fostering strong, ongoing partnerships.
  • Ensure that service delivery is of high quality and is performed according to and within the NVFS policies and procedures, Family Program’s Standards, and grant deliverable requirements.
  • Participate in outreach activities and maintain relationships with current and potential community and school partners.
  • Represent NVFS at presentations, community events, and meetings throughout Northern Virginia to promote awareness of and participation in family support programs.
  • Participate in volunteer and community engagement activities, including tabling events.
  • Attend relevant trainings, workshops, and seminars to support professional development and strengthen program delivery.
  • Coordinate program data collection/reporting and regularly communicate with supervisor to provide timely reports.
  • Work closely with supervisor to ensure data integrity, program fidelity on outcomes, and performance.
  • Participate in committees and/or special projects for the benefit of the organization.
  • Participate in regular supervision with supervisor and provide regular updates.
  • Remain current on knowledge of standards and other program-related information.
  • Enter data for record keeping and reporting to meet relevant guidelines.
  • Must uphold the organization’s child protection policies and codes of conduct, and be responsible for: Discussing sensitive issues, particularly around child abuse and child sexual abuse Learning and understanding the impact of childhood trauma Learning and utilizing trauma-informed approaches with both colleagues and clients Learning and understanding child protection content including signs & indicators of abuse, definitions of abuse, grooming behaviors, and responding to disclosure Sharing child protection concerns through the Agency’s internal process and/or with appropriate child protection authorities.
