About The Position

As the Parent Educator you will provide regular prenatal to kindergarten in-home visits and families. This position provides timely documentation of paperwork and oversees the work performance expectations established by the organization. Specific duties include: Understands and utilizes community resources. Assesses the family level of development and support needs to maintain effective parenting. Develops and implements a realistic plan and/or appropriate community referrals to assist the family. Networks with community service representatives to advocate for service accessibility for parents. Facilitates support networks, including peer, family and neighborhood. Identifies community resources available to help support families. Reports on parent/child activity and community contacts. Teaches basic living skills, including financial management and employment skills. Identifies community resources available to help support families. Works with community resources and public systems to achieve effective parenting and proactively assesses community barriers. Teaches and supports basic parenting skills. Assists in delivery of parent materials and resources in the home setting. Provides a safe learning environment for the parent and child. Reviews referral information and child assessment to determine the level of development, skills and needs of the child/family. Prepares and implements a child development plan based on the child’s developmental level. Observes, teaches and models appropriate parent skill development and interaction. Provides information and feedback to the family on the child/family development and progress.

Requirements

  • To qualify you must posses a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a Human Services related field OR an Associates Degree in a related field plus 2 years of related experience.
