About The Position

Greenbush The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a Parent Educator in the Montgomery County area. Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible. Job Summary: The Parent Educator is responsible for the successful implementation of the Parents As Teachers Program in local school districts. These services include personal visits, screenings, coordination of group connections, resource and referral processes, and distribution of promotional materials that will encourage parents with children under the age of six to participate in the program on a voluntary basis.

Requirements

  • A valid driver's license is required for employment. REAL ID is required if air travel is necessary to complete job duties.
  • Bachelors degree in child development, human development, education, or related field.
  • Individuals must successfully complete the Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation training provided by the Parents as Teachers National Center.
  • Requires a current Kansas valid drivers license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the Parents as Teachers program to a predetermined number of children for each participating school district or grant funder establishing positive working relationships with local service and educational agencies.
  • Implement strategies for the recruitment of families, including the placement of brochures, conducting presentations for community groups, and establishing positive working relationships with local service and educational agencies.
  • Conduct personal visits, discuss developmental information, provide screening services, model positive parenting techniques, and serve as a resource for participating families.
  • Organize and facilitate Group Connections among participating parents.
  • Maintain family information as required by the Kansas State Department of Education.
  • Complete continuing education requirements as required by the Parents as Teachers National Center.
  • Participate in the steps required to address Quality Standards.
  • Maintain timely documentation.
  • Support the mission, goals, and objectives of the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center..
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined by FERPA and HIPAA.
  • Ability to work alone and in groups to provide services.
  • Maintain professional relationships with families.
  • Assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the ability to effectively and regularly communicate with other employees of the SEKESC and constituents.
  • Complete all assignments in a timely manner including communication with other staff and families.
  • Follow all safety requirements as directed by the SEKESC.
  • Regular and predictive attendance in the designated work location as determined by the Executive Director or designee.
