About The Position

Job Goal: To assist teacher with providing classroom instruction.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree or equivalent amount of college credits from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Experience working with children in an instructional setting.
• Basic knowledge of curriculum, instructional practices.
• Good communication skills verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work with diverse learners across settings.
• Flexibility and comfort with transition and varied responsibilities.
• Ability to work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers in classrooms by providing indirect instruction and support to students.
• Assists with the supervision of playground, bus boarding activities, cafeteria and corridors.
• Works under the direct supervision of teaching staff to implement special education and general education programs by providing both individual and small group support.
• Provides behavioral, social and daily living skills support to students as assigned.
• Alerts staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.
• Assists with clerical work in teacher's classroom, library, office, and other appropriate workstations.
• Support students in school-sponsored community activities
• Accompanies a sick or injured child when appropriate.
• Assists in maintaining workroom area and machines.
• Assists with snack and cleanup routine.
• Assists with library functions: book collection, dissemination and record keeping.
• Performs clerical work related to record keeping for district and state reports.
• Any other duties deemed appropriate and assigned by the Principal or Director of Student Services.
