About The Position

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. As a Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant) , you will work alongside educators to support student learning and classroom operations. This role includes providing small-group and individualized support, assisting with classroom management, and helping maintain a structured and engaging learning environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of a paraprofessional exam OR Associate’s degree or higher
  • Prior experience working with children in a school setting
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate initiative

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Experience working in Title I or diverse school environments

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Support Support lead teachers with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and transitions
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce skills and reteach concepts
  • Support individualized learning plans and student interventions
  • Student Supervision & Environment Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal to ensure safety
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support behavior management and reinforce expectations
  • Operations & Collaboration Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
  • Assist with grading and documentation as directed
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff
  • Substitute for lead teachers as needed
