About The Position
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS Arkansas represents our first expansion beyond Arizona, and we are excited to serve students and families in the Little Rock community. As a Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant), you will work alongside educators to support student learning and classroom operations. This role includes providing small-group and individualized support, assisting with classroom management, and helping maintain a structured and engaging learning environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of a paraprofessional exam OR Associate’s degree or higher
- Prior experience working with children in a school setting
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate initiative
- Arkansas State Background Check
- Child Maltreatment Central Registry Check
- Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) required background clearance and fingerprinting
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience working in Title I or diverse school environments
Responsibilities
- Support lead teachers with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and transitions
- Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce skills and reteach concepts
- Support individualized learning plans and student interventions
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal to ensure safety
- Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Support behavior management and reinforce expectations
- Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
- Assist with grading and documentation as directed
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff
- Substitute for lead teachers as needed
