Paramedic: Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position Paramedic will provide care and transportation of emergency and non-emergency in the pre-hospital environment and scenes at the Paramedic level of care defined by the Ohio EMS scope of practice. Paramedic will operate an ambulance in a safe and efficient manner. Paramedic will keep current on all required certifications and continuing education.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Paramedic Certification State of Ohio
  • Valid Driver’s License/ AHA Healthcare Provider BLS
  • AHA ACLS
  • 1-3 years preferred
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) within 1 year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational/ Technical Degree
  • AHA PALS, NRP, ITLS/PHTL with in 6 months of hire
  • IS 100 and IS 700

Responsibilities

  • Responds to Calls and performs patient assessment and triage
  • Perform IV Therapy and administer approved medications per Ohio EMS Scope of Practice
  • Performs advanced airway management per Ohio EMS Scope of Practice including needle decompression and advanced airway placement.
  • Cardiac Monitor strip interpretation all rhythms per scope of practice and defibrillation
  • Participate/attend required/mandatory trainings.
  • Provides proper care, safe, and efficient transport
  • Maintain proper reports and records
  • Care for vehicle and equipment
  • Maintains confidentiality and actively supports patient/family rights
  • Serve as a patient advocate
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • May serve as proctor/educator for students
