About The Position

Baptist Health is seeking a PRN Paramedic to join their EMS transport team at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN. This role involves providing advanced life support care to ill and/or injured patients of all age groups. The Paramedic will administer direct care under the direction of an emergency medical physician, emergency physician’s assistant, or emergency advanced registered nurse practitioner, or by utilizing approved EMS protocols during patient transport. The position requires strict adherence to hospital and department policies, as well as the paramedic scope of practice.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Active Paramedic license through the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS).
  • BLS certification.
  • PALS & ACLS certifications issued by AHA or ARC.
  • Other certifications and specialty training as required by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS).
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care within the medical director approved department protocols and state scope of practice.
  • Initiate’s action to alleviate patient’s stress and discomfort.
  • Recognizes, responds to, and communicates changes in patient condition appropriately.
  • Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation and patient care reports within required timeframe for each patient encounter.
  • Provides care appropriate to the emergency population and maintains the environment of care.
  • Performs ambulance transportation services within the scope of practice of a Paramedic.
  • Sets priorities for the transport of multiple patients.
  • Assures resources and coordinates plan of delivery.
  • Organizes workload so there is effective utilization of time and resources.
  • Accurately completes required documentation and patient care reports within required timeframe.
  • Maintains knowledge and familiarity with each vehicle in fleet in order to operate smooth and safely.
  • Assures ambulance is clean, stocked and response ready at the beginning and end of every shift as well as prior to each and every request for service.
  • Ensures proper vehicle maintenance and equipment readiness as well as proper ALS gear readiness and utilization.
