The Paramedic (EMT-P)'s primary responsibility is to provide initial medical contact in the triage area of the Emergency Department. This includes maintaining a safe environment and providing compassionate care to patients and family members. The EMT-P will collect blood samples and/or obtain IV access only at the request of the triage RN or the ED team leader. The EMT-P will also be expected to provide initial medical services including basic airway management, spinal stabilization and transportation to ill or injured persons if requested through a code 250 or code blue activation as outlined in the code policy under the supervision of the ED Medical Director.
