JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: TBD WORK SHIFT: 11a - 11p JOB SUMMARY: The ER Paramedic is a specially trained bedside caregiver who assists the professional nursing staff in performing routine care, performs specialized technical skills, reports any unusual incident or findings, and always maintains patient safety to a group of patients for a designated time period. ED Paramedic provides care in accordance with standards and procedures of the hospital and works under the direct supervision of a physician.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent required
- Current Paramedic Certification
- One year acute care hospital experience or one year experience as an EMT/Paramedic on an ambulance crew or Patient Care Technician
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS (within 6 months of hire) certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off
- Upon hire, the paramedic will be assigned a de-escalation class via Health Stream
- Must possess good physical health
- Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time
- Lifting at least 50 pounds is required
- Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise
