About The Position

Century College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for potential future Paramedic faculty positions. Candidates are reviewed and positions are filled on an as needed basis. This position requires the following knowledge and abilities: Teach a variety of Paramedic, EMT, EMR, and CPR courses in a diverse student-centered learning community. Deliver lectures, lab, and simulation instruction. Develop and implement curriculum. Mentor, advise, and assess students. Participate in professional development activities. Participate in program/department activities including accreditation and program review, staff meetings, and other department work. Demonstrate positive communication and teamwork skills. Maintain a flexible schedule for college course assignment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree.
  • Three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in pre-hospital, emergency, or critical care settings.
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
  • Current Minnesota certification, registration, or licensure as a paramedic, physician, physician’s assistant, or registered nurse.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • College-level teaching experience in Paramedic courses.
  • Current paramedic certification and relevant field experience in emergency medicine or pre-hospital care.
  • Instructor-level specialty certifications (e.g., PALS, ACLS, and BCLS by American Heart Association and PEPP).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively using a variety of instructional methods, including online and hybrid formats, and using technology.
  • Experience assessing student learning outcomes and providing academic support or remediation.
  • Knowledge of the National EMS Scope of Practice, EMS Education Standards, and evidence-informed clinical practices.
  • Commitment to inclusive teaching and supporting a student population with varied interests, abilities, and experiences.
