About The Position

The Paralegal supports EXL’s Record Retrieval operations by developing, overseeing, and managing state‑specific subpoena and authorization protocols, as well as all legal processes relevant to EXL’s record retrieval service. This includes ensuring proper handling of subpoenas, attorney‑issued requests, HIPAA‑compliant authorizations, certifications, notices, and any required legal correspondence. The Paralegal works closely with Operations and clients to ensure compliance, standardization, and enforcement of all SOPs across jurisdictions. This role also assists in developing team knowledge and training protocols to support consistent performance and compliance. The position manages subpoena‑ and authorization‑driven orders across civil, federal, and workers’ compensation litigation matters, prepares legal documentation as needed, and partners directly with clients, custodians, and healthcare providers to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant record production. The role requires strong legal knowledge, a deep understanding of regulatory and procedural requirements, excellent organizational skills, and strict adherence to confidentiality, federal/state laws, and HIPAA regulations.
