About The Position

Nelson Mullins, an AmLaw 60 law firm, is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to assist attorneys in our Baltimore office with general and complex litigation matters. This position requires an individual who is proactive with case management and organization and has the knowledge and experience to move tasks forward with limited oversight. Performing a broad range of substantive paralegal tasks, this candidate will work directly with attorneys on complex litigation. This individual will maintain and monitor court deadlines for assigned cases and take ownership of case calendars; electronically file documents with the Court through the ECF system or local State Court sites under the supervision of an attorney; perform online PACER research; and prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions. Experience with drafting medical chronologies is preferred. Additionally, this individual will be primarily responsible for document management for all cases. Requirements

  • At least 5 years of litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end and an understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills
  • Detailed oriented
  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs, along with eDiscovery databases
  • Strong sense of accountability
  • Takes ownership over projects and responsibilities
  • Resolves issues proactively
  • Ability to conduct research using various research tools, including the Internet and Westlaw
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with drafting medical chronologies
  • 2 or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate; however, work experience may be substituted for education
  • Technology pro and has no problem learning new software
  • Knows how to be a true team player
