About The Position

We are seeking a certified paralegal to join our team. This role is ideal for a proactive, highly organized professional with exceptional writing skills, strong legal research abilities, and experience supporting multiple attorneys in a fast‑paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in legal or paralegal studies is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with a legal department or at an executive level performing similar duties.
  • Paralegal certification required.
  • High degree of personal integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability in preparing letters, memos, minutes, planning and scheduling meetings and distribution of related materials.
  • Expert level ability in Microsoft Office365 Suite (including the ability to redline and compare track changes in documents), Windows, and Adobe Acrobat Pro, a working knowledge of office equipment (e.g., laptops, smartphones, office phones, copier, fax machine, etc.) and familiarity with other office software programs or collaboration tools, such as Internet browsers, and SharePoint.
  • Must be competent, effective, efficient, and accurate in completion of tasks, including meeting deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Participation in business or law courses (i.e., accounting, business law, legal drafting, legal communications, management, and technical and professional writing) a plus.
  • Prior experience with legal research, regulatory docketing, and electronic filing procedures with government agencies preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and maintain both electronic and physical legal files, ensuring they are easily accessible and up to date.
  • Perform advanced document management, which includes drafting, reviewing, and heavily editing legal documents.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis, prepare detailed reports, and summarize case law, statutes, and regulations as needed
  • Draft complex legal documents, pleadings, discovery materials, and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
  • Provide detailed analysis and summarization of legal documents, evidence, and case law to support attorneys in decision-making.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of litigation documents, maintaining records of submissions, and tracking procedural schedules.
  • Assist in drafting and revising drafts of complex transactional documents and managing Closings for those transactions.
  • Work with Legislative & Regulatory Coordinator to ensure all filings for Member Cooperatives are tracked and reminders are issued related to critical infrastructure notices, emergency operations planning, regulatory reporting, and statutory filings.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory applications and reports (including FERC filings), manage annual and ongoing licensing requirements, and maintain current officer, director, and contact information across multiple regulatory bodies.
  • Serve in a legal administrator capacity for the Legal Hold Risk Review Team, maintaining board governance records and indexes, drafting resolutions, coordinating board reporting deadlines with outside counsel, and implementing all required updates resulting from director or officer changes, and interpreting corporate documents such as bylaws, charters, etc.
  • Work with Legislative & Regulatory Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate compliance with evolving requirements from agencies such as PUCT, ERCOT, FERC, and the Secretary of State.
