The Opportunity Paralegals in our Employment Wage & Hour Class Action department provide litigation support to our attorneys and partners. This role manages a high volume of cases and requires the ability to be resourceful and multi-task with a high attention to detail. Experience at an employment law firm highly desirable. This position can be based in Oakland, Downtown Los Angeles, or Irvine.
Requirements
- 3+ years of Paralegal experience in Labor and Employment and Wage & Hour.
- Well versed in e-filing in State, Federal courts (Appellate a plus), and administrative agencies.
- Experience propounding/responding to discovery, calendaring hearings and court deadlines, and assisting with mediation/arbitration/trial preparation.
- Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels across the Firm.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while providing leadership and guidance to paralegals, legal assistants and clerks.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills.
- Proficient in conducting legal research using Lexis-Nexis, Westlaw or similar platforms.
- Experience using Litify or similar case/document management systems.
Nice To Haves
- Spanish fluency and proficiency with Microsoft 365
- Bachelor’s degree a plus.
Responsibilities
- Prepare correspondence, letters, pleadings and all forms of discovery.
- Proofread and edit legal documents for accuracy and clarity.
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases.
- Maintain case files on the Firm’s document and case management system.
- Assist in preparing for hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations and trials.
- Case/calendar/project management and client communication.
- Provide administrative support to the legal team.
