About The Position

This position will assist attorney(s) by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation and review, research, investigations, fact-checking and preparation of filings, responses to subpoenas, etc.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of verified experience as a paralegal or legal assistant; AND
  • High school diploma or possess GED.
  • Paralegal certificate required.
  • PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing).
  • Knowledge of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes and other related matters.
  • Excellent skills in organizational and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize work under the pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to remain calm and presentable in hectic situations.
  • Ability to function well in stressful situations and with constant distractions.
  • Skilled at operating standard office equipment.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Meets with attorneys, staff, and other professionals to discuss assigned projects,
  • Works a flexible schedule adjusted to accommodate the attorney’s daily workflow.
  • Communicates as needed with local agencies, and operations personnel on legal matters.
  • Prepares and assists with legal documents for attorneys as directed.
  • Drafts and proofreads correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and contracts.
  • Manages, organizes, and maintains documents in paper or electronic filing systems.
  • Manages files, ensuring that summaries are properly prepared and updated, litigation files are properly and securely maintained, and records and documents needed are collected and organized.
  • Assists attorneys with case preparation, which may include attending hearings or meetings.
  • Performs other duties as required or directed.
