About The Position

Intelligence Federal is a fast-growing government contracting company and seeking a Temporary Litigation Paralegal to support our contract with FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). This is a maternity leave cover spanning early May through July. After this point, you may be considered for placement on other open contracts at Intelligence Federal. The ideal candidate has litigation paralegal experience. This position offers the opportunity for a motivated candidate to take on responsibilities and grow with our company. Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week Location: Onsite at FEMA, 500 C St SW, Washington, DC 20024 (Hybrid days may occasionally be available, but for the most part you should plan to be onsite.) Duration: Early May to end of July 2026

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of legal experience.
  • Knowledge of Paralegal Methods, Practices and Procedures.
  • Proficient in litigation discovery software and MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Adobe PDF.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well within groups handling large volume of work.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to obtain and must be able to pass a Public Trust background check
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with lawyers, staff, and stakeholders to screen files for completeness, proper jurisdiction and other elements.
  • Perform substantive and procedural legal work to support attorneys and staff.
  • Assist attorneys and investigators in preparing for hearings, legal discussions briefings, and meetings on various legal matters.
  • Conduct and assist in factual and legal research.
  • Draft legal documents such as correspondence, complaints, and legal briefs.
  • Assist with contacting and corresponding with clients, lawyers, witnesses, experts and federal/state government personnel.
  • Docket new appeals in the electronic case filing system and/or e-filing system.
  • Work on presentations, memoranda, and special projects.
