About The Position

Stein Sperling is a mid-sized law firm in Montgomery County, MD, with over 45 years of client-focused service. Our dedicated team practices with compassion and integrity, ensuring we meet our clients' needs in a collegial environment. Stein Sperling is seeking a detail-oriented Tax Paralegal to join our Tax Practice Group. The ideal candidate will assist attorneys with financial forensics, tracing analyses, preparing historical and common-size financial statements, calculating actual and after-tax income, and managing case materials related to tax and litigation support matters. This role requires strong analytical skills, financial understanding, and familiarity with tax laws and procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a legal, accounting, or tax-related environment.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, accounting, or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
• Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and accounting/tax software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
• Must be an Enrolled Agent (EA) or willing to obtain the designation within the first year of employment. The firm will reimburse testing costs for candidates pursuing the credentials.

• Experience working in a law firm, accounting firm, or the IRS is preferred.
