The Litigation Group is one of five groups in the Civil Division, and the attorneys, paralegals and administrative staff defend various legal actions, lawsuits, and claims brought against the various Maricopa County entities and employees. These claims vary from complex civil rights litigation in Federal Court to car accident tort claims in Superior Court, and even election and tax litigation. The other groups in the Civil Division handle many other areas including providing advice to County officials, responding to public records requests, and representing the County in probate or mental health hearings. In addition to working with the paralegal’s litigation team, the paralegal could be called upon to assist with tasks or projects in the other groups.
