About The Position

This position supports students in special education programs with a life skills, functional academic and vocational/transition focus under the direction of a certifi cated special education provider. Responsibilities include providing individualized instruction in cognitive, academic, communication, social, motor, and adaptive skills as outlined in students' IEPs, and supporting on-the-job training activities, social, community, and transition skills. Additional duties include assisting with functional and daily living skills (e.g., budgeting, shopping, household chores, functional reading and writing, safety, and transportation), implementing behavioral interventions, collecting and maintaining data to guide instruction, and collaborating with special and general education staff . The role may also involve assisting with personal care and health needs, duplicating materials, providing basic fi rst aid, supervising students across school and community environments, and maintaining program records.

Requirements

  • Must show documentation of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must fulfill one of the three following requirements: a. Completed 72 quarter or 48-semester credits at an institution of higher education, OR b. Obtained an Associate's (or higher) degree, OR c. Take and pass the Para Pro Assessment developed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS)
  • Unless you have been fingerprinted in a school district within the last two years, you will be required to have fingerprinting done.
  • All applicants must submit an updated applicant disclosure statement.
  • You MUST SUBMIT an electronic application to be considered for employment.
  • HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED (required): A copy of your High School Diploma or Transcript, or a copy of your GED/Equivalent.
  • COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS OR PARA PRO ASSESSMENT SCORES (required): A copy of your transcript or a copy of your Para Pro test score.
  • COVER LETTER (required): A cover letter is a document sent with your resume to provide additional supplemental information in regard to your skills and experience. A cover letter shouldn't simply repeat what is on your resume rather, it should include specific information on why you would be a strong match for the position in the Peninsula School District. Cover letters may be addressed to Human Resources, the Principal, or hiring team.

Typically, letters of reference are customarily written by a former employer(s), supervisor(s), or co-worker(s) that can attest to the individual's skills, knowledge, and abilities. You may submit up to 3 current (dated within the last 2 years) letters of reference.
  • APPLICANT DISCLOSURE STATEMENT (required):The Applicant Disclosure Statement document is a fillable form that mimics the Background Check Questionnaire.
