About The Position

Huntington Elementary School is seeking a paraeducator to work with students who receive special education services. This position is a part of a collaborative team of educators who work together to provide quality instruction and support services for students in a life skills classroom. Candidates must be flexible and able to work with a variety of teachers and other school personnel to meet the needs of students. The candidate will support students with academic skills, social skills, and basic life skills as students develop independence in all areas. Candidates should demonstrate compassion for students, flexibility and the ability to take initiative. They should believe in positioning students as capable while maintaining a patient and positive demeanor. Excellent collaboration and communication skills are essential. Responsibilities also include supporting students with personal needs. This position starts as soon as the candidate is available. The ideal candidate must be physically capable of moving quickly and easily between seated and standing positions, get up and down off the floor as needed, and maintain the energy required to keep up with active students throughout the day. The work schedule for this position is ideally 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. 2025-2026 salary is $20.50/hour. This position is subject to veterans preference.
