Sofidel America is currently seeking a Paper Mill Production Planner/Procurement Specialist to support planning activities within our mill operations. This role is essential in ensuring accurate production schedules and material planning for our paper manufacturing process. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field
  • One to three years of experience in production scheduling within a manufacturing environment, preferably in paper mill or paper industry operations
  • Strong analytical ability to evaluate large data sets and make informed decisions
  • Ability to work within time-sensitive deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Organizational strength with excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in SAP and Excel or similar planning tools
  • Strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify nonconformance and notify the operations team of issues.
  • Communicate in a manner that supports production- confers with managers, technicians, production personnel, and other operators regarding testing procedures and results and to resolve problems.
  • Ability to use computer and peripherals, standard and customized software applications and tools, and usual production equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality procedure manuals
  • The role involves working in a paper manufacturing facility, which may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). PPE may include safety shoes, eye and ear protection, reflective vests and a head cover or hats along with any other necessary protection.
  • Temperatures in the plant/warehouse can range from season to season.
  • Employees will be exposed to paper dust and noise levels that may require hearing protection.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate production and inventory plans for paper mill operations
  • Coordinate with the Material Planning Manager to create and update machine production schedules
  • Schedule and adjust production based on forecasts, customer requirements, safety stock, and operational targets
  • Plan, track, and monitor reel and material movement through the paper production cycle
  • Collaborate with purchasing, production, and engineering to ensure timely availability of materials
  • Approve and release the mill production plan
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve trim efficiency, and optimize machine utilization
  • Work with converting production planners to ensure accurate reel/raw material allocation and customer service levels
  • Support customer and internal requests related to production timing, specifications, and delivery
  • Procure raw and auxiliary materials, considering the converting production plan, stock levels, and warehouse balance to achieve service level goals.
  • Manage supplier relationships concerning deliveries and product specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with the Purchase Office to address any issues with suppliers promptly.
  • Coordinate inventory activities for relevant products to ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Ensure all procurement processes are managed according to group policies and procedures.
