About The Position

Newberry Community School is seeking an organized and dependable Panther PAWS Program Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of the before and after school program. This role is responsible for coordinating activities, supervising staff and participants, managing program logistics, and ensuring a safe, engaging, and structured environment for elementary students. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, strong communication and leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while building positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community partners.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of two (2) years successful experience working with children
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Ability to be flexible and perform job functions with minimum supervision
  • Ability to perform CPR and First Aid
  • Ability to coordinate, implement, and monitor program services
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, parents, teachers, administrators, and outside agencies
  • Skill in the use of computer applications

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an approved accredited educational institution, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site coordination and evaluation of the Panther PAWS Program for elementary students
  • Coordinate scheduling of activities offered at the program site
  • Select and train Panther PAWS staff members
  • Supervise and assist personnel
  • Collect fees, issue receipts, and monitor participant payments
  • Arrange substitutes for activity leaders and paraprofessionals as needed
  • Develop and conduct student needs assessments
  • Arrange transportation services
  • Coordinate agreements with community service agencies
  • Recruit and train volunteers
  • Submit periodic program reports using a computer
  • Monitor the program budget
  • Procure materials and supplies as needed
  • Provide First Aid and CPR for program participants as needed
  • Arrange field trips and collect permission slips and payments
  • Compose and distribute a parent newsletter
  • Serve on state or community councils or committees as assigned
  • Adhere to applicable safety standards
  • Attend all staff meetings and workshops
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly environment
  • Follow Board policies and departmental procedures
  • Communicate effectively with the public, staff, participants, parents, and administrators using tact and good judgment
  • Identify potential problems or opportunities for improvement and take appropriate action; keep supervisor informed of issues or unusual events
  • Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities
  • Support the school district’s goals and priorities
  • Work effectively as a team member
  • Follow attendance, punctuality, and dress code requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding school and workplace matters
  • Maintain expertise in assigned areas
