Santa Monica Parks & Recreation is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Painting & Drawing Instructor to lead engaging workshops and classes that inspire creativity and skill development. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to share your expertise in painting & drawing techniques while fostering a welcoming environment for learners of all levels

Requirements

• Experience teaching in an educational or recreational setting.
• Strong background in visual arts, including painting, drawing, and basic art techniques.
• Ability to adapt lessons for multiple age groups and skill levels.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and professional work ethic.
• 2+ years of experience in Knitting and Crochet making
• 1+ years in teaching
• Has a reliable mode of transportation
• Competent in creating lesson plans

Responsibilities

• Lead weekly Painting & Drawing classes.
• Develop age-appropriate art lessons focusing on drawing, painting, color theory, and creative expression.
• Prepare materials, set up the classroom, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Provide clear instructions, demonstrations, and individualized support to students.
• Encourage creativity while ensuring a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
• Manage classroom behavior and maintain positive communication with on-site staff.
• Track attendance and report updates or concerns to program coordinators.
