About The Position

Come join a global leader in pipe joining solutions! Expectations: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sandblaster to join our coatings team. The Sandblaster will be responsible for preparing surfaces of pipes by removing rust, old paint, and other contaminants to ensure a smooth and clean surface for coating applications. This role involves operating sandblasting equipment, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring that all surfaces meet the Victaulic’s quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in sandblasting, a strong understanding of safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Physical stamina and attention to detail are essential, as is a commitment to maintaining high-quality workmanship.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Good communication skills both verbal and written.
• Computer literate

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual is a plus
• 1-3 years of sandblasting experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Remove rust, scale, old coatings, and other contaminants from pipe surfaces to prepare them for further treatment or coating, ensuring a uniform surface texture.
• Examine pipe surfaces before and after sandblasting to ensure all contaminants are removed and that the surface meets required standards for coating adhesion.
• Apply protective coverings to areas of the pipe that should not be blasted, such as threaded ends or areas requiring special protection.
• Operate sandblasting machines, compressors, and other related equipment, adjusting settings to match the pipe's material and the desired finish.
• Manage and control dust and debris generated during sandblasting, including the proper disposal of used abrasive materials and ensuring the work area is kept clean.
• Follow all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring the work area is secure from hazards such as flying debris or inhalation of dust particles.
• Perform routine maintenance on sandblasting equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts to ensure efficient operation.
• Set up and prepare the blasting area, including arranging pipes, setting up scaffolding or supports, and securing the area for safe operation.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed, including logging the types of pipes blasted, duration of work, and any issues encountered during the process.
