About The Position

The ancestors of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation existed many centuries ago as a community of people…a Tribe living together, farming, hunting and fishing to survive.

Much has changed since that time. Today the Sycuan Tribe governs its Reservation, owns and operates a Casino and a Golf Resort, and owns a number of other business ventures in the San Diego Region.

Job Purpose:
Paints a variety of large and small interior and exterior structures

Requirements

• 4 years of vocational painting experience
• Working knowledge of painting techniques including faux artistry
• Ability to identify and mix paints
• Ability to use painting tools and equipment
• Ability to work from blueprints and schematics and/or verbal and written instructions
• Ability to work from heights including ladders, scaffolds, and lifts
• Ability to reach, crouch, and bend
• Ability to document assignments in a shop log or through a work order system
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
• Ability to work in a smoking environment
• Ability to appear for work on time
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and measurements
• Ability to interact effectively with guests and team members
• Ability to maintain professionalism and composure
• Ability to accept constructive criticism

Nice To Haves

• Certificate of training as a journey worker
• Exposure to related trades such as carpentry or construction
• Exposure to the casino, hospitality, and/or hotel industry
• Multi-lingual

Responsibilities

• Paints facilities by cleaning and preparing surfaces for paint application, mixing paints according to established procedure, and applying paint to surfaces with an appropriate tool(s).
• Maintains safe and sanitary work and storage areas by setting-up scaffolding and ladders securely, cleaning tools and equipment after use, and storing materials according to established procedures and regulatory requirements.
