About The Position

Painter 1st Class Location: Guam Start Date: Jan 19 (30–40 day project) Hourly Rate: $26/hr + $2 differential Schedule: Day Shift - 7/10's Scope: Operate Blastrac equipment, surface prep, apply non-skid coatings Travel Provided Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be assigned. Paint, stain, enamel, or other finishes to equipment, interior or exterior of ships, marina buildings, or other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers. Prepare wood, fiberglass, and metal surfaces for painting by removing old finishes, grease, rust, scale, and dirt by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water or abrasive blasting. Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting. Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines. Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats per specifications. Cut stencils and brush or spray lettering on surfaces. Fill cracks, holes, or joints with caulk, putty, plaster, wood, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives. Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly. May be required to remove fixtures such, doorknobs, lamps, or electric switch covers prior to painting.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or one year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
  • 1st Class: Minimum of 3 years
  • Willing to learn and become familiar with air permit regulations.
  • Perform basic mathematical functions.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High performance and a strong team player.
  • Commitment to company policies, values, and safety program.

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial and/or marine painting experience preferred
