About The Position

This position is responsible for leading and coordinating Team Members’ activities to achieve business goals through focusing on continuous improvement and promoting a team-based culture. The position is responsible for overseeing the performance of the Paint Shop Department functions.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree
  • 8-years of Industrial powder paint experience
  • 3- years of experience in a supervisory/team leader role
  • Ability to powder coat and understanding pre-treatment operations in a coating production system
  • Operation of wheel shotblast equipment
  • Tend and operate manual & automated powder reciprocators and management of colour changes
  • Proficient in the management of slinging & lifting tools and procedures
  • Appreciation in the use of chemical hazard assessment & handling
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite including Word, PowerPoint & Excel
  • Ensure TPM, pre‑use and daily checks are completed
  • Understanding and experience of an ERP system - SAP within a production environment
  • Understanding of the complexities of interacting with support functions in an organization
  • Effective time management and planning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Articulate problem solutions to senior leaders
  • Investigate problems and listen to associates
  • Ability to motivate staff and deliver results
  • Ability to influence and manage change within the business
  • Promote creative problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment as required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field
  • 7- years of Paint/Operations experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5- years of experience in a supervisory/team leader role
  • OSHA-10, Fire Warden, First Aid preference

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily allocation of work, managing staff and budgets
  • Develop and maintain visual management boards for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Costs, People and the Environment
  • Set and manage training programs to train new team members
  • Promote flexibility in the team
  • Ensure performance standards are met
  • Manage team and individual’s performance and attendance
  • Compile daily, weekly and monthly reports
  • Encourage involvement from all team members through daily meetings
  • Demonstrate active listening to ensure all team members and colleagues’ issues are understood
  • Take responsibility for the physical appearance and safety of the workplace
  • Enforce Health and Safety requirements and meet objectives
  • Operate and monitor a system of work that is safe to the Environment within permissible limits
  • Ensure all direct activities have a relevant Standard Operating Procedure
  • Actively pursue the elimination of waste through the application of continuous improvement tools and techniques
  • Liaise with suppliers on quality, delivery, performance, safety and cost
